SMS between networks – Cable SMS now 45 cents!

Since the launch of SMS services in the Seychelles, mobile customers from both network operators have, until now, been unable to send and receive SMS to and from each other.

Good news has arrived – from midnight the 4th of April 2005, all Cable & Wireless Seychelles mobile customers can send and receive SMS to and from any mobile in Seychelles, including friends and family who subscribe to the Airtel network. Having resolved all technical and commercial issues, an agreement making this possible was signed by the two operators at the end of March.

Usman Saadat, Chief Executive Officer of Cable & Wireless said: "I am delighted that we are able to facilitate more communication between consumers of Cable & Wireless and Airtel. We believe in open competition and bringing the benefits of this to the Seychellois public".

In addition to this benefit, Cable & Wireless is giving its customers extra value with its "Big Deal" SMS promotion. A flat rate of 45 cents per message (inclusive of GST) is now on offer to all prepaid & subscription mobile customers sending local and international SMS from midnight the 3rd of April to midnight the 4th of June 2005.

Touching on the promotion, Mr. Saadat added: "Now with the lowest SMS rate in the country and with the ability to SMS any local number of their choice, our customers can communicate more, for less! So go for it, text away!"
