The Seychelles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) was the recipient of a generous donation from Cable & Wireless, which included a second-hand vehicle, a hotline inclusive of handset and packages as well as a gazebo for outdoor events.
Mr. Charles Hammond, the Chief Executive CWS presented the items to Mr. Patrick Pillay – Patron of the SSPCA in a short ceremony at the Exiles Club in the presence of members of the NGO, media and staff of CWS. In a short introductory speech, Mr. Hammond mentioned "The benefits of these donations may not be measureable numerically; however we trust that its impact on the community in general will have a highly positive effect. The fight to protect animals and the efforts to eradicate stray-animal-bourn diseases is collaborative. Once again, I reiterate on our pride to be a partner with SSPCA. In the spirit of our National Theme for the year, ‘Koste Seselwa’, I hope that we all ‘come together’ and prevent cruelty to animals and hence protect our communities".
In his acceptance speech Mr. Pillay promised to use the facilities in a very positive and useful manner. He further stated that the donations are the testimony of CWS’ support to the work the SSPCA is doing.
The donation is worth more than SCR125’000.00 and has received full backing of the CWS staff who are always at the forefront of the company’s charitable ventures.
