A high level delegation headed by Finance Minister – Danny Faure toured the CWS facilities at its Head Office in Victoria on Thursday 7th January, 2010. The delegation was guided on this tour by a CWS Management team headed by CE – Charles Hammond.
The visit coincided with the new tax reform and was also an opportunity or the minister and other officials to see for themselves the work being done and the investment being made to upgrade the services. Upon concluding his visit, Minister Faure stated “Cable & Wireless has prepared itself for any future development”. He went further to congratulate the CWS staff for their high level of professionalism and said “we are happy that the company has over the years, strongly focused on investing in staff development and training”. Today the CWS workforce stands at 99% Seychellois.
It was the Chief Executive – Charles Hammond who led the delegation through the various facilities and departments starting from the Customer Services Centre going through the various equipment rooms. Speaking briefly on the tax reform, Mr. Hammond said that the benefits of the reform will be passed on to customers and the community in general. “Cable & Wireless is a very positive and customer–focused company” he said. Customers are already reaping the benefits through an improved internet service with a recent reduction in data overage charges.
In this new economic environment, it is important that Seychelles is well prepared to cater for the future, and investment in modern technology and communication is of paramount importance. The high level ministerial delegation ended their visit satisfied and impressed.
