Cable & Wireless supports local artists with introduction of new, value added ringback tone service “CABLE TUNES”

Cable & Wireless, Seychelles’ leading communications provider, has announced the launch of a new ringback tone service that will primarily support local artists and musicians whilst offering customers a user friendly, value-added service of the highest quality.

Use the language of music to express yourself before you answer a call

Branded as ‘Cable Tunes’, the service will allow both Cable & Wireless postpaid and prepaid customers to replace the standard mobile ringback tone with a Tune of their choice that their callers will hear when calling them. The service has been designed to offer mobile customers a more fun, personal experience that is user friendly, flexible and affordable.

Cable Tunes supports local music and artists

What makes Cable Tunes unique and different to other similar type ringback tone services on the market is its support of local artists and musicians. Cable Tunes offers over 200 local tunes recorded and released by some of Seychelles’ most popular artists including relatively new artists such as Mercenary, Ion Kidd and Champion plus seasoned singer/songwriters like Patrick Victor, Joenise Juliette, David Andre, Danny & David Deltel, Elijah, Jahrimba, and many many more. Most of the artists are members of SACS (Seychelles Authors & Composers Society).

For each Tune purchased, the respective artist will receive a percentage in the form of a royalty payment. Commenting on the importance of supporting our local talent, Charles Hammond, CEO of Cable & Wireless Seychelles, said: “In the modern day age of music piracy, Cable Tunes promotes original local music and access to that music through a legitimate, legal source, thus encouraging our artists to continue their craft whilst rewarding them for their talents. This is so critical for the artistic and cultural development of our small nation and Cable & Wireless is proud to play a part in that development.”

Registering, purchasing and rates

Registering to Cable Tunes is easy and hassle free. Any postpaid or prepaid customer can do so by calling 177 from their mobile and following the voice prompts that they will hear or, alternatively, by SMSing the keyword “Reg” to 177.

Once registered, customers can purchase an available Tune by once again calling 177 to follow the voice prompts or by SMSing the word “Tune” followed by the Tune ID, e.g. Tune 1061. The full list of Tunes and their respective ID nos is available on the company’s website ww.cwseychelles.com and the company will also publish selected Tunes and Tune IDs from time to time.

To encourage customers to register and try Cable Tunes, Cable & Wireless are offering special promotional rates until the 30 th of June 2010. A one off SR5 fee will be charged upon registration and thereafter a monthly subscription fee of SR5 will be charged to allow for ongoing use of the service. Customers can expect to pay around SR5 per Tune, however, prices may vary from Tune to Tune. All calls made to 177 will be charged at SR1.50 per minute.

All tunes will expire after 2 months from the date of purchase and customers wishing to keep the same Tune would need to re-purchase it. Alternatively, customers can choose to replace an existing Tune at any time. When a purchased tune expires, the customer automatically reverts to a default tune until he/she unregisters from the Cable Tune service.

Cable Tunes is now available and customers are encouraged to visit the company’s website for more information.
