CWS Bytes – What’s the big deal about VoLTE?

What’s the big deal about VoLTE?

Voice over LTE – VoLTE for short - is how our phones and carriers transmit our voices during a call.

Before CWS deployed VoLTE (and we are the first operator to do so!) whenever a call was made, it would have to switch network and would drop down to a 3G signal when talking to someone on the other line.

The big deal about VoLTE is its superior call quality over 3G. This is because more data can be transferred over 4G than 3G, making it easier to not only make out what the person on the other end of the line is saying, you can better understand their tone of voice. 

Here are a few reasons for why we’re excited for VoLTE, and why we think you should be, too:

Better coverage and connectivity

VoLTE connects calls almost twice as fast than when you are using 3G. Of course, 3G connections will also be available in places where you cannot pick up an LTE signal,  meaning there’s greater mobile coverage overall.

Enhanced battery life

Did you know that every time you make a call on your smartphone, you switch from LTE network to 3G, and then it switches back when your call has ended? All that switching back and forth can be draining on your battery! With VoLTE, expect to see an increase in your battery life by as much as 40%! 

Fewer dropped calls and faster connection

All in all, the deployment of VoLTE network is going to turn your call into a high-definition one, and is a much richer experience overall!
